"The title of the workshop series, Virtual Revolutions, is derived from the theme of ISEA '98, Revolution/Terror. Virtual Revolutions deals with the real and the virtual transformations that the so-called 'digital revolution' has effected in the fields of art, society and politics. With its emphasis on an exchange between artists from East and West Europe, Virtual Revolutions will pay special attention to the transformation of cultures and identities in Europe that are taking place between the 'technological', the 'virtual' and the 'real social revolutions' of the 1990's.
