People are what they wear

It has become common to dress children in overalls reminiscent of Hansel & Gretel. Anarchy in clothing has become passé: If you donít wear a shirt and tie or a fancy dress to work these days, people think you're senile. Grandpas tend to wear jeans and sweaters, grandmas come dressed in overalls.

Do you want to secure a high-dividend future for your young child?

You've already bought stocks in new technology companies for your kids. You write book reviews for Internet companies from your home. But something is missing. Our new design course, Pinstripes for Max and Sophie, shows you how to design and make fashionable, modern clothes yourself. To stay ahead of the game, all you have to do is download the patterns onto your computer.

Kriegerowski created a vision of the future based on the current trends in the IT industry and the growing number of people who work at home. Her vision includes collections of downloadable patterns for children (all patterns are in digital format).

Art and Science

Suggestions for new media artists

How to use scientific text or images as a source of inspiration to create art is a question that often concerns artists. In many respects, scientific research has become one of the most important sources of inspiration for art.

Classic methods, including the use of images or techniques provided by new media technologies, are as common today as simulating a type of discourse which, in the context of art, is "critical" and feeds on the political and social sciences of the seventies.

There are some essential principles that should be taken into account to avoid frictional loss in alternative or mainstream art and to ensure that the scientific material is successfully transformed into "art."

Programming and communication

Verbal and written language systems have always been influenced by culture. They reflect our general knowledge and understanding - our perception of who we are and the world we live in. To access the knowledge of a particular culture we have to understand the meaning behind the symbols and the language of its people. Computers have become common in our daily lives, yet we can only communicate with them to the extent allowed by user interfaces and software applications.

What is behind this?
How do I really communicate with a computer?
How are vocabulary and grammar organized?
To what extent does the computer determine the rules of communication and how much freedom do I have in determining these rules?
What is the difference between the way a computer "thinks" and the way humans think?
What aspects of computer and human thought are similar?
