<h1>Memento of Nico</h1> <p>Visit her burial place in Berlin, Grunewald Forest Cemetry, Grave 81.</p> <p>Nico - model, actress and singer. She was for three decades a fascinating and mysterious figure in modern popular culture.</p> <p>video | audio | dates | links</p> <p>Some days before I left Manchester I found in a record shop a strange CD. Nico - Live, where recorded was not mentioned on the cover. Listening to the songs I found out that the concert was actually recorded in Manchester. Nico: "I'm very happy to live in Manchester. Very much like Berlin." Manchester, 1982, Library Theatre </p> <p>Today 1998, the summer of the Virtual Revolutions, I wonder how this city have looked like in '82 when Nico lived in Manchester. And I wondered too how the times have changed since that final era of the "Cold War" structure of the world.</p> <p>Nico represents those typical underground-sub-cultural phenomenons of western popular culture of that era. She worked since 1964 with artists like Federico Fellini, Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol, Velvet Underground or Paul Morrisey. Artists from the so called 'Multimedia'-Revolution arised from the Sixties. They have started to blur the borders between popular culture, media and traditional arts. Roots for the entire developement of contemporary art till today.</p> <p>Three decades Nico was a fascinating and mysterious public figure from the revolutionary Sisties to the Punk years of the late Seventies and Eighties.
